DART Magazine is an independent art magazine of storytelling.

Though entirely student-run, DART has already featured over 26 artists from across North America, Asia, and Europe. In Editorial section, DART profiled and interviewed creatives and organizations reported by Vogue, ELLE, Forbes, METAL Magazine, and ARTJOBS.

DART Magazine is founded in Davis, California. At the heart of everything DART does, is a deep pride in Davis identity. DART aim to give local readers a stronger sense of belonging and pride, while carrying the name of Davis further into the art world, as the place that shaped DART with depth, care, and creativity.

DART Magazine is founded by Yitong(Edgar) Zhang on December 19 2023.

For DART Magazine, art is a process of understanding one another. The purpose of art is usually to express oneself; understanding it, receiving it, is about understanding another human being — the artist.

That's a language and an ability, that can be learned by anyone, and should be. It requires no formal education, just the same basic nature that lets us understand another human being, no matter who they are.

In today's society, this ability has grown rarer and harder to practice. How do we learn to understand each other? How do we truly help each other? Art is communication, and the first step toward both. Like many others, DART Magazine is searching for the best way to make that step easier, through our story-telling and design.

With that mission, DART Magazine can guarantee: each page will tell a story that anyone can understand, or begin to understand — to feel, to romanticize, to criticize, to sympathize.
